MONROE® BRAKES LINE NOW INCLUDES EXTENSIVE AIR DISC BRAKE COVERAGE FOR TRUCKS

Las Vegas, NV, Nov. 4, 2008 - Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TEN) has introduced Monroe Dynamics® disc brake pads and shoes covering the latest air disc brake systems from Workhorse, Knorr Bremse, Meritor Wabco and other manufacturers. This product line expansion builds on the brand's already extensive coverage for hundreds of medium- and heavy-duty commercial-vehicle applications.

The Monroe Brakes product line now covers a broad range of popular, hard-working trucks, vans and utility fleet vehicles, including trucks equipped with pneumatic disc brake systems. This leading-edge coverage in pneumatic disc brake systems is designed to help commercial-vehicle parts distributors increase sales by expanding into growing market segments.

"Many fleet service operations and brake repair specialists are looking first for OE-type pads and shoes that will provide long-lasting performance and exceptional stopping power," said Rick Steinbrenner, marketing director, North American Aftermarket, Tenneco. "Monroe Dynamics pads and shoes offer the additional advantage of increased convenience and productivity by providing all of the parts needed, in a single box, in most cases. Time is money in the commercial-vehicle marketplace and our total solution strategy is a powerful differentiator in the eyes of today's fleets."

Monroe Dynamics brake pads and shoes for many applications are packaged complete with all hardware and related components needed for the job, enabling independent and fleet repair professionals to complete high-quality brake jobs both faster and easier each day. Tenneco's "The Total SolutionTM" approach is helping replacement parts distributors throughout the United States attract new accounts in both the automotive and commercial-vehicle markets.

Each Monroe Dynamics semi-metallic brake pad features an application-specific friction material developed and tested to meet the vehicle's unique operating requirements. In addition, these friction materials are secured to their backing plate with an OE constant-pressure manufacturing process called positive molding. This provides a better bond and denser friction material, resulting in less resin versus conventional flash-molded products. This, in turn, reduces pedal fade and helps ensure outstanding stopping performance.

"Drivers can brake safely and confidently with Monroe," Steinbrenner said.
